Interpretation is not for the faint of heart:  One has to be quick, know the terms, and leverage techniques to convey meaning and not miss anything.

Just like in translation, being bilingual is only the first step.  An interpreter must receive special training to be able to do this highly taxing activity and prepare days in advance of any assignment, such as extensive research to learn proper terminology.
